Hi, I am Amudha Gopalan, based in Virginia, USA. I'm basically from Madras and am very much interested in cooking. I landed on CookingMarvel through a search and am very much impressed by it. I try out new recipes very often and over the years have collected a large number of authentic Tamilian Vegetarian recipes at http://tamilcooking.homestead.com/

The following recipe is one of my favorites and many friends have relished it at several occasions. This is quick and easy to prepare and can be served as an appetizer along with tomato ketchup as a dip.

INGREDIENTS

Sago - 1/4 cup

Potato - 2 medium

Onion - 1 small

Green Chilly - 2

Ginger - a small piece

Salt - 1 tsp

Besan - 1/4 cup

Oil - to deep fry

METHOD

Soak the sago in warm water for at least an hour prior to preparation. Cook the potatoes, peel and mash well. Cut the onion, green chilly and ginger into tiny pieces. Decant the excess water and mix the sago with the mashed potatoes, onion, chilly and ginger. Add the besan and salt and mix evenly. Heat up oil in a deep kadahi. Make small balls out the sago mix and deep fry in hot oil. Drain the excess oil in paper towels or tissues and serve hot.

Makes: About 20 mid-sized bondas
