INGREDIENTS

Yam Chopped into medium size cubes - 1 cup
Green Plantain Chopped into medium size cubes - 1 cup
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Black Pepper - 1 tsp
Salt - 2 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Raw Rice - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - Few
Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
Water - 2 cups

METHOD
 
Bring  2 cups of water to a boil. Add the Yam and Plantain pieces, add turmeric powder and salt and cook till soft and tender. 
Grind 3/4 cup of coconut with Black pepper and raw rice by adding very little water and add the paste to the vegetables while they are cooking.
Cook the vegetables for about 10 minutes. In a  fry pan heat the coconut oil and fry the mustard seeds and curry leaves and add it to the cooked  gravy.
Finally fry the remaining 1/4 cup of coconut with little coconut oil in the fry pan till it turns golden color and add it to the gravy.
This is called Eriseri. It is a popular dish in Kerala. Eriseri can be served along with hot plain rice.
