Hi,
This is Deepa Rathakrishnan from Atlanta, GA, USA. Here is a simple and
delicious recipe of Masala Vada. Please try and send me your comments to deeparatha@hotmail.com.
Chana Dal - 2 Cups
Onions - 1 Medium Size chopped finely
Green Chilies - 4 chopped
Red Chilies - 3
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Curry Leaves - Little
Coriander - 1/2 Cup Chopped
Saunf - 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - To taste
Oil - To deep fry
METHOD
Soak the Chana Dal in water for 2 hours and grind it along with the red chillies
and ginger coarsely by adding very little water. Add all the other ingredients
to the batter and mix well. Make small balls, flatten them a little and deep fry
in oil. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
Makes: About 20 vadas
