SPONGE CAKE

METHOD
Beat butter till it gets soft and smooth. Add milk powder and sugar alternately. Add milk in the butter mixture and beat it. When milk is mixed well, add vanilla essence. Sieve maida, baking powder and soda together. Divide the sieved mixture into four parts. Mix all the four parts one-by-one by cut and fold method. Keep this batter aside. Take a cake tin and grease it with butter. Put butter paper according to its size and dust with flour. Now put the batter in the cake tin and bake it in a preheated oven at 180C/350Fand bake for 40 minutes. If a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, remove from the oven after 5 minutes.
Makes: Cake of 1 pound
