MARBLE CAKE

 

INGREDIENTS

Maida and Powdered sugar

200 gm each

Vanilla essence

1 tsp.

Cocoa powder

2 tbsp.

Refined oil

cup

Soda-bi-carb

1 tsp.

Curd

1 cup

Salt

a pinch.

Cardamom powder

tsp.

METHOD

Sieve maida, powdered sugar and soda together thrice. Add refined oil, curd and essence. Now take flour in a container and mix it well by adding the above paste. Beat it in one direction for 15 minutes. Divide the batter into two parts. To the first part add cocoa powder and to the second part add cardamom powder. Keep the batter aside. Take a cake tin and grease it with butter. Put butter paper according to its size and dust with flour. Pour the two parts of the batter in alternating layers. Slightly shake the cake tin so that the batter gets a marble effect. Bake it in a preheated oven at 180C and bake for 45 minutes. If a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, remove from the oven after 5 minutes.

Makes : cake of approx 1 pound
